Drift Card Scavenger Hunt | UM Marine Debris Science Project

Have some free time this weekend? Participate in a marine debris citizen science research project!

University of Miami, Frost Science Museum and Vizcaya have teamed up for the #baydrift study, launching brightly painted pink "drift cards" in order to understand how marine debris moves through Biscayne Bay and the influence of weather and tides.  This past weekend, they completed the 3rd launch of the cards and now we need to find them!

We need volunteers to head out to shoreline locations on Biscayne Bay and beaches and look for the cards,  and then report the location of where they washed up, for the science study, and hey--- maybe pick up some ocean trash while you are at it :)

There are instructions on the card for how to report them when they are found. It's a modern-day message in a bottle, with a scientific twist!

Here's what the cards look like: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10100852805847402&set=a.855518836592.2193402.36107886&type=3&theater
