Join the Nautilus Middle School Sharks for beach cleanup at the Virginia Key Outdoor Center
Our objective with this project is to foment environmental education and create awareness regarding the impact of litter on our beaches and surrounding aquatic habitats.
Volunteers will remove marine debris from the area and log them on cleanswell app, a free smartphone app for ocean conservancy that lets you upload the data instantaneously to Ocean Conservancy's global ocean trash database. The data collected will provide researchers and policy makers insight to inform solutions. Download the app in advance here: http://www.oceanconservancy.org/do-your-part/about-clean-swell.html
Students under 18 must download and have parent/guadian sign waiver in advance and bring with you
Volunteers should dress for the weather, and wear closed-toed shoes, NO FLIP FLOPS OR SANDALS
All supplies (gloves, trash bags, sunscreen, water refills) will be provided by VolunteerCleanup.org
