Oceanic Global Artivism Miami Beach Cleanup!
As part our global series of beach & shoreline cleanups, we are thrilled to announce that the next one will be taking place on Sunday, December 3rd, 2017 in Miami! We are excited to be doing something for our ocean a few days before Art Basel Miami! Shoreline Cleanups are a fun way to get involved and keep your waterways and oceans clean
.
We would love to invite you to join us from 2pm-4pm on a day of Biscayne Bay Cleaning at Albert Pallot Park. Every hand helps!
For our latest project, we have launched our Artivism Challenge, in partnership with Alpha'a. The Artivism Challenge is an art competition which leverages the universal appeal and emotional power of art, to raise awareness of critical issues impacting our ocean. Emerging and established artists nominated artworks which address one of the following issues: sea level rise, plastic pollution, overfishing, coral bleaching, deadlines and the need for more marine protected areas. The winning pieces will be showcased at our gallery space at 129 E Flager St during Art Basel. We will also be selling beautiful prints of the winning artworks to support our educational programs.
We wanted to do an action around the Artivism Challenge and a cleanup sounded like the ideal thing! We hope that you will join us and invite your friends and family to participate in a fun afternoon of action-packed impact.
All the plastic collected will be used to create an art installation in the center of our exhibit to highlight the magnitude of the plastic pollution issue and showcase that this is a global issue!
