  • Historic Virginia Key Beach Park | International Coastal Cleanup

    Join us for Day 1 of a a 3-part cleanup series for the International Coastal Cleanup 2020 Season

    New format for ICC this year, due to COVID Restrictions: We will have 3 staggered shifts of 10 volunteers per shift. Please signup below for your preferred start-time (9am, 10:30, or 12pm) and check the available remaining slots when you signup) ** please do not signup for a shift that has already reached it's goal of 10 per shift*** Only signup for ONE shift. 

    All participants are required to wear a mask and maintain social distance of at least 6 feet.

    What to bring:  

    1. Closed toe shoes and a hat
    2. Sunscreen, insect repellent, and a water bottle. 
    3. Gloves of any kind
    4. Download the Clean Swell app for collecting important Citizen Science Data (required for community service hours) 

    The park will provide trash bags for use. 

    Individuals under 16 years of age require adult supervision

    Each grouping will have their bags individually weighed and recorded. Everything will be posted online.      

    At the end of the October period. The team with the most pounds will receive a park gift package that includes items like park fans, guided tour and a t-shirt.

    2002 ICC Season Cleanup dates: 9/26, 10/3, 10/10

    Further cleanup instructions will be given 3 days before the cleanup day. 

    This is a great way to earn volunteer hours for school, so please tell your classmates about this opportunity.  Volunteer certificates available upon request.
