Las Olas Beach Cleanup - Debris Free Oceans x Sushi Maki x City of FTL

We are stoked to be joining forces with the City of Fort Lauderdale and the new Sushi Maki Las Olas (opening soon!) to clean up the beach!

About this event

Join us to clean up the beautiful Las Olas coastline and protect the wildlife of Fort Lauderdale Beach!

Spend your Saturday morning removing trash from the beach with us, and the Sushi Maki team will reward your volunteer work with coupons to #treatyourself at their new location opening in October! We can also provide volunteer service hours :) Just bring yourself, a positive attitude, some friends, and a reusable water bottle! DFO and the City of FTL will provide all cleanup supplies, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, a water cooler, and a first-aid kit.

We will meet at 300 S Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard, where Las Olas Blvd. meets the beach. Head to the black Debris Free Oceans pop-up tent to check in when you arrive. There is ample parking in the City Parking garage just at the north side of Las Olas Blvd. east of the Intracoastal waterway. There are currently 2 ways to obtain volunteer parking; 1) Volunteer parking is available ON THE 3RD FLOOR of the Las Olas Garage at 200 Las Olas Circle until noon; 2) Upon entering the garage volunteers use code number 23224 to obtain a pass to park anywhere in the garage until noon.

Additional Volunteer Information:

  • Please participate responsibly, especially if you have allergies or special needs.
  • Proper attire is a t-shirt and pants - things you do not mind getting dirty! Also we still recommend to bring your mask and any other PPE you might want to use.
  • Due to the outdoor activity, it is recommended all volunteers wear proper clothing, a hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent, plus bring their own reusable water bottle and snacks. Stay hydrated!

Debris Free Oceans has been working with the Sushi Maki team to eliminate all single-use plastic beverage and bubble tea straws ahead of their October opening, in compliance with the City of Fort Lauderdale's plastic straw ban! If you are a business owner in need of assistance in complying with your municipality's plastic ordinances, feel free to reach out to our team by emailing [email protected]!

Join us to celebrate both cleaning our beaches and making sustainable business switches to prevent future pollution from reaching our coastlines!
