Our annual PADI Women’s Dive Day celebration with Rescue a Reef is BACK! Rescue a Reef if the University of Miami’s coral restoration citizen science program. Join us as we outplant corals onto the reef alongside marine scientists from UM and then cleanup marine debris with DFO! This trip costs just $20 thanks to the support of the Carolan Foundation (includes tanks, water, and snacks).
We will meet at Diver’s Paradise at 9 am to check in, retrieve rental gear from the dive shop, and give introductions + instructions before heading offshore.
On dive one, we will outplant coral colonies onto the reef using cement. Each group of 4 divers will be guided by one UM coral restoration scientist.
Then on dive two, DFO will distribute cleanup gear for each dive buddy pair to use to independently conduct a scuba cleanup, diving and removing any marine debris that we find. Note that this is not a guided dive.
