Ocean Forest Mangrove Cleanup
CoastLove is teaming up with the Sustainability Initiative of UM Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, John Pennekamp State Park, and the Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center to clean up the mangroves and coastlines of Ocean Forest.
Ocean Forest, Key Largo is a part of John Pennekamp State Park. This beautiful undeveloped area includes mangroves, coral reefs, and a large array of wildlife. The vast amount of plastic that has accumulated is smothering the ecosystems so it’s all hands on deck!
This cleanup is in an undeveloped area with extensive walking and wading through water so young children are not recommended for this event.
All participants must register before entering the trail.
GETTING THERE & PARKING: USE GOOGLE MAPS OR WAZE w/ address -> Apple Maps does NOT show correct location
Look for the Coastlove banner and park along the side of the road.
Be prepared for a long walk in and out (up to 30 mins) with water up to our knees.
What to bring:
-Sun protection
-Bug spray and/or wear long sleeves and pants
-Closed-toed shoes are required (we will be wading through water)
-Change of clothes (there are showers available at the main entrance of John Pennekamp)
-Towel
