Virginia Key Outdoor
About
Every year, hundreds of pounds of garbage wash up on the shores of Virginia Key. Volunteer efforts have done an amazing job of keeping the Island’s shoreline clean. However, we need YOUR HELP!
Join us on the first Saturday of each month at Virginia Key Outdoor Center to participate in a Coastal Clean Up!
We will be taking a short hike to North Point Beach, where much of the debris that gets washed up on the shore is from the neighboring port, Fisher Island, and passing boat traffic. We have found things such as propellers, coolers, buoys, and even animal bones.
Bags and Gloves will be supplied to Volunteers. Once we are done with the Clean Up we will return to VKOC to weigh and record all debris found!
VKOC VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION PROGRAM - Earn Community Service Hours
We love our hard-working volunteers! VKOC will be starting the Volunteer Appreciation Program to reward those that put sweat, tears, and time to ensure that Virginia Key is a CLEAN place where nature lovers and others from all walks of life can come and enjoy it!
