Pelican Harbor Coastal Cleanup

On the third Saturday of every month, volunteers can assist the Pelican Harbor Marina staff beautify this coastal park and keep our ocean ecosystem healthy.

This Saturday is also known as Critical Splash, made possible with the support of our community partner, iPaddle Miami. On February 18th, volunteers will work alongside staff from Suzuki Marine. CLEAN OCEAN PROJECT (Suzuki Marine) has been committed to cleaning up the marine environment through voluntary “Clean Up the World” activities and the innovative design of the Micro Plastics Filter device for use on Suzuki Outboard Motors. Join Suzuki Marine at Pelican Harbor and they will give you a complimentary ticket for admission to the MIAMI INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW on 2/18 or 2/19. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Removing microplastics and trash along the mangroves at Pelican Harbor Marina
  • Visiting Pelican Island to collect marine debris and non-native coconuts
  • General landscaping
  • Additional tasks as needed

Qualifications: Youth under 15 must have a parent/guardian present.

Commitment Expected: Please arrive at your scheduled start time and practice social distancing. Gloves and trash bags will be provided, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own reusable gloves to reduce waste. Masks recommended. Community service hours letters will be emailed, by request, following the event.
