Steinberg Nature Center with Tropical Audubon - International Coastal Cleanup 2022
This year's shirts are available for purchase here!
Sometimes, litter makes its way into the ocean from land. This debris is carried by storm drains, canals, or rivers. The wind can even blow trash into the water. That is why it is important remove the trash within and surrounding the Steinberg Nature Center to prevent it from entering our waters! In addition, we can use help with the maintenance of our wildlife habitat, where we will be removing invasive plants.
Registration is required to participate. Where possible, please have guests in your party RSVP individually so we can ensure they get all information and details about the event and can accurately plan for turnout.
Meeting Spot/Parking: Enter our parking lot via SW 55 Ave off of Sunset Drive. Additional street parking can be found on the roads surrounding the Steinberg Nature Center.
Volunteers should bring/wear: We suggest you bring your own water bottle (we'll have water to refill it with) and your own outdoor gloves (we have extras, if needed). We recommend you wear long pants, closed toe shoes, a shade hat/sunglasses and long sleeve shirt to protect you from sun and scrapes. We will provide garbage bags, data collection cards, and a souvenir tote bag with this year’s marine animal theme, the Hermit Crab.
Waivers: Complete the online waiver here in advance to expedite check-in. If you are under 18 and coming without a parent or guardian, you must have a parent/guardian print and sign the waiver HERE in advance.
Download the Ocean Conservancy’s CleanSwell app to participate in the Citizen Science activity to log, tally and measure the impact of your cleanup. It is easier and more fun than using the paper data cards!
