Mangrove Cleanup - Crandon Park North
Join Key Biscayne Community Foundation, FillABag, and Miami EcoAdventures for another impactful and unforgettable mangrove cleanup in Crandon Park on Key Biscayne!
You will need to bring your own paddleboard/kayak, and life vest/personal floatation device. Want to participate in the clean-up effort but don't want to get in the water? No problem! We will also have an option for some participants to walk along the shoreline to clean, while the rest paddle through the mangroves.
Join us for a guided tour into Bicayne Bay and the mangroves of Crandon Park to remove marine debris from this vital and hard to reach habitat. This cleanup will be particularly important as it will come on the heels of Hurricane Ian and king tides, which are likely to increase the amount of debris caught in the mangroves!
Our event is funded through a generous grant from the Florida Inland Navigation District.
A limited number of tandem (2-person) kayaks and paddle boards will be available for use by Miami EcoAdventures at no charge. Registration does not guarantee you a kayak, and they will likely go fast. To reserve a kayak or paddle board, please email [email protected] or call 305-361-6767 ext 2112 after you have completed your registration.
All participants will be provided reuseable gloves, buckets, bags, and guidance on the water by a team or experiences local environmentalists. Participants should wear sun protective clothing and closed-toed shoes that can get wet. Please bring water in a reuseable water bottle and wear reef-safe sunscreen.
Children are welcome as long as they are comfortable and safe being in the water and are accompanied by a parent or guardian. We can provide Community Service Hours for students.
