West Point Preserve Mangrove Cleanup
You will need to bring your own paddleboard/kayak, and life vest/personal floatation device.
Join us for a guided tour into the mangroves of West Point Preserve on Biscayne Bay to remove marine debris from this vital and hard to reach habitat. This cleanup is particularly important as this area is not frequently visited but collects quite a lot of garbage, and it is a vital part of the local ecosystem.
Our event is funded through a generous grant from the Florida Inland Navigation District.
A limited number of tandem (2-person) kayaks will be available to borrow from Miami EcoAdventures at no charge. Registration does not guarantee you a kayak, and they will likely go fast. To reserve a kayak or paddle board, please email [email protected] or call 305-361-6767 ext 2112 after you have completed your registration.
All participants will be provided reuseable gloves, buckets, bags, and guidance on the water by a team of experienced local environmentalists. Participants should wear sun protective clothing and closed-toed shoes that can get wet. Please bring water in a reuseable water bottle and wear reef-safe sunscreen.
Children are welcome as long as they are comfortable and safe being in the water and are accompanied by a parent or guardian. We can provide Community Service Hours for students.
