MarineLab's Annual International Coastal Cleanup

It’s that time of the year again to make a difference! Join us at MarineLab on Saturday, September 16th for our annual event created by Ocean Conservancy in efforts to clean up our oceans. Last year alone we collected 1,500bs worth of marine debris, exceeding the years before. We want to continue this trend and make an even bigger impact this year, but we cannot do it without you! ***RSVP to Brittany via e-mail to save your seat!*** Brittany.parker@marinelab.org We will be leaving the dock promptly at 10:30am on our TwinVee vessels to our cleanup location. Upon return we will record our findings, which will then be sent off to Ocean Conservancy and Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary for their databases. WHAT TO BRING: *Friends and family, all ages are welcome! *Reusable water bottle, filled with lots of water! *Bug repellent * Sun protection: sunglasses/Hat *Shoes/water shoes *Comfortable outdoor ware OPTIONAL: Work gloves, scissors or line cutters To add a little something new this year we invite you to stay after the cleanup for more SCIENCE!! We will be taking a microplastic sediment sample that day for NOAA’s Marine Debris program. The lab and data collection will be held in our Green Lab directly after the event.
