Curry Hammock Island Cleanup and Education Day
Join Coastlove, Curry Hammock State Park, and Save a Turtle for a day of sun, sand, and education!
We are rolling up our sleeves and heading back to Deer Key for another kayak cleanup! Deer Key is an important rookery and rest stop for thousands of migratory birds each year so we want to help keep this island clean and healthy.
We will be providing kayaks to the first 30 people who arrive at the park. We encourage you to bring your own if you are able.
Don't want to join us on kayak? No worries, come help us clean the surrounding coastline and mangrove forest on land!
Local non-profit organizations will be set up in the education village with fun hands-on activities. Whether you want to participate in the cleanup or just enjoy the day at the park while learning about our amazing islands and local ecosystems, you do not want to miss this fun opportunity!
Parking will be free for all event participants- Please let the gate attendant know that you are there for the Coastlove event. Be sure to register as spots are limited due to park regulations.
Reusable bags, gloves, and a water refill station will be provided. Be sure to bring your reusable bottle, as we will not be handing out bottles or cups for water.
What else to bring?
-Reef-friendly sun protection
-Bug protection
-Close toed shoes that can get wet
-Change of clothes (if desired)
-Towel (if desired)
**For those wanting to join the cleanup on kayak, please be advised it is about a 20 minute paddle out to Deer Key- please plan accordingly. Everyone is also welcome to participate on land if unable to kayak.
