Spring Break Miami Beach Litter Prevention Team (Saturday)
This event is all focused on making sure our Spring Break visitors keep our beaches clean through outreach and engagement efforts. Meet on the sand just past the dunes on 8th street. You will see our signs. This event is happening on Saturday *and* Sunday from 3-6pm.
We will focus on 3 main actions :
1) Walking through the crowds with funny anti-littering signs
2) Giving out trash bags to groups of spring breakers and encouraging them to keep our beach clean
3) Handing out free pocket ashtrays to smokers and educate them that cigarette butts are made of plastic and not biodegradable.
We will be videoing our engagement with people to show cities and volunteer groups how we do it.
NOTE : We will not be cleaning up after the partiers - We are using a different approach to prevent the mess in the first place. If there is trash at the shoreline, we may patrol the waterline to keep trash from getting in the water.
NOTE : Parking will likely be chaotic, so we encourage carpooling, biking, public transport.
