Bal Harbour Village Beach Sweep
Bal Harbour Village invites all members of our greater community to join us on a fun-filled morning cleaning up our beach shoreline and sand dunes.
During the beach clean-up we will also host a Mini Plastic-Free Fair where you will have the opportunity to learn about:
- BHV new Single-Use Plastics Ordinance
- Impact of litter on the environment
- Importance of properly disposing of trash and recyclables
- Introduction to alternatives and solutions on how to reduce single-use plastics
- Statewide Single-Use Plastics campaign
- Conservation efforts to reduce ocean plastic pollution and to protect coastal habitats:
- Ocean Friendly Restaurants & Sand Dunes - Surfrider Foundation Miami
- Litter Sources and Ocean Pollution - Volunteer Cleanup.Org
- Community Efforts to Ban Single-Use Plastics - Florida Plastic Free Initiative
We will provide:
- Ice water and paper cups
- Reusable bags and/or buckets
- Reusable cloth gloves
Bring/Wear:
- Sun block
- Hat
- Your own gloves … if you wish
- Reusable water bottle – NO SINGLE-USE PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES at this event.
- Comfortable closed-toed beach shoes

Entry Points:
- Oceana Condominium - gates for residents only
- 96th Street
- Haulover Cut Walk
Community Service Hours letter will be provided upon request by VolunteerCleanup.org.
- 08:30 am - Volunteer check-in / Registration and Coffee at Meeting Station
- 09:00 am - Welcome remarks by VBH Official
- 09:15 am - Event introduction and Litter Prevention/Safety Presentation by ELS and hand out of reusable bags/buckets/gloves
- 09:30 am - Clean Up begins
- 11:00 am - Return to Meeting Station& garbage is weighed and sorted
- 11:20 am - Event recap, brief Intro by Event Partners and Closing Remarks
- 11:30 am - Time to explore the Mini Plastic-Free Fair
- 12 noon - End of event
This event is being organized and coordinated by Eco-Logical Solutions (ELS), a local environmental consulting firm.
