The Friends July @Oleta Cleanup Challenge + Celebration
The Friends are joining in with our local community on July 12 at Oleta River State Park for an innovative and fun Cleanup Challenge Event focused on supporting biodiversity at Oleta...and we'll finish up together with a Celebration of our hard work.
At 9AM we will kick off the event sipping generously donated coffee from Starbucks (plus a gift they are providing for our early-risers) as we go over the cleanup and talk about the importance of biodiversity and how humans can have positive and negative impacts. Starbucks will have some volunteers to remind us how important it is to chose reusable cups - something they are working hard to promote in their stores to reduce waste.
We will finish up talking more about our community ecosystems and biodiversity with snacks fabulously provided by the wonderful Vocelli Pizza and Kebobji :)
Please make sure to wear solid shoes/sun protective clothes/hat/sunscreen and gloves. Please bring a REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLE. We will supply cold water refills (and a few other treats too - we'll update about that very soon).
NO SINGLE USE PLASTIC bottles allowed at this litter-free event.
COMMUNITY SERVICE credits available to students volunteering. Kids under 15 MUST be supervised by adult.
