Surfside Sea Turtle beach cleanup
Come out and join us for a Beach Cleanup from 8 am - 12 featuring a marine life education and speaker from Miami Is Not Plastic. Please wear closed toe shoes and a hat and bring along sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle or cup. This is a waist free event. We will provide trash bags, gloves and iced water to refill your water bottles.
Lets limit the amount of waste that makes it into our oceans! The best way to become environmentally friendly, even sea turtle friendly, is to use reusable water bottles and bags. Plastic can mimic a sea turtles’ favorite food item, a jellyfish. So, if we lessen the use of plastic water bottles and plastic bags we can lessen the confusion. Balloons are also extremely hazardous to sea turtles! Please never, ever release balloons into the air, because what goes up, must always come down!
If you're bringing a group of children please have one chaperone present for every 10 individuals. Individuals under 16 years of age require adult supervision. Please, no drop-offs. This is a plastic free event, please bring a reusable water bottle or reusable cup.
This is a great way to earn volunteer hours for school, so please tell your classmates about this opportunity. All Volunteers will receive a letter certifying their volunteer hours.
Thanks and we hope to see you there. We believe that teaching about conservation and protection of the ocean 🌊 is the best hope for the future of our beaches and native wild life! 🐢
