Kayak Cleanup on Virginia Key - TICKET PURCHASE REQUIRED
We are beyond excited to get back to enjoying and protecting our beautiful South Florida environments with you all! Join us for our FIRST in-person event since the pandemic began!
We will be partnering with the Virginia Key Outdoor Center to kayak around Virginia Key and remove any trash that we find !
Reserve your spot ASAP- there are only 18 spaces available. One group of 9 will meet at 3 pm, one group of 9 will meet at 3:15 pm, and each group will be led by a DFO team member. We will email you to let you know what group you are a part of and coordinate keeping groups of friends/family together.
There will be a flat fee of $30 for all rental types, including paddle boards, singles kayaks, and doubles kayaks- buddy up with a friend on a double to cut the price in half! If you reserve a single at check out, we will follow up via email to ask if you if you'd prefer a kayak or paddleboard.
DFO will provide:
- Gloves
- Bags
- Buckets
BYO:
- Water bottle
- Sunscreen
- Mask
Safety information-
Masks and social distancing required at all times.
Safety precautions at VKOC:
- All surfaces and paddles are being wiped down and hosed off regularly
- Life jackets are being dunked into bleach, hosed off, and left to dry in the sun
- Wipes and hand sanitizers are available onside
Safety precautions at DFO:
- All gloves and mesh bags are washed with soap in warm water and left out in the sun to dry
- All buckets are wiped down with a diluted bleach solution, hosed off, and left to dry in the sun
