Key Largo SCUBA Reef Cleanup with South Beach Divers!
Join us for a two-tank reef cleanup in Key Largo on Saturday, December 9th! All you need is your open-water diver certification. All cleanup supplies will be provided by Debris Free Oceans! We will meet at the dive shop in South Beach at 9:30 pm for a safe-handling workshop with Debris Free Oceans, and then will fill out paperwork and get gear together. We will depart for Key Largo at around 10:45 am. We will stop for lunch on the way down, so either pack a lunch or bring money for Subway, Pollo Tropical, McDonalds or Dunkin Donuts. We will get to the boat at 1 pm and then go dive at 2 different sites along the Florida Reef Tract while picking up any debris that is safe to remove. We will get back to shore at around 5 pm and back to the dive shop in Miami at around 7 pm. On our way back to shore, we will collect data about our debris findings to submit to Project AWARE Foundation and C-OCEAN. This data will be used by researchers to better understand the distribution and transport of marine debris, and will ultimately be used to inform policy-makers and guide site selection for future cleanups. Come help clean our beautiful ocean post-Irma and contribute to marine debris research! Call us at 305-531-6110 to make your reservation or book online using the link provided and save 5%! Email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions, or to be put on an info list and find out about future conservation events.
