Giving Back to the Everglades

Join Love The Everglades Movement + The Everglades Conservation & Memorial Cleanup +  VolunteerCleanup.org as we team up together for a canal cleanup in the Everglades.

This is Everglades Cleanup #14 of The Everglades Conservation & Memorial Cleanup group and Day 3 of the 3 Day Summer Symposium of the Love the Everglades Movement.

We will meet at the Miccosukee Resort and then caravan together over to the canal cleanup site, on the Tamiami Trail near ValueJet memorial site.

Day 3 (Sun, Aug 14) is an opportunity for direct action with an Everglades Clean-Up that brings people into the Everglades to remove garbage and invasive plants. This hands-on excursion will connect individuals and communities to the wilderness and waterways by providing education and experiences. This gathering will be open to people of all ages and offer a chance to interact with nature beneficially. This is a new component to the Summer Symposium and we are partnering with an assortment of organizations to generate solid engagement.

Please wear closed-toed shoes that can get dirty or wet

Bring Water in a Reusable Container (we will have coolers of water for cold water refills)

VolunteerCleanup will also supply gloves and garbage bags, but feel free to bring your own work gloves if you have them.

Love The Everglades Movement (LTEM) is a multi-faceted environmental organization that works to bolster public support for the Everglades with community outreach events. One of the things that makes LTEM a unique organization comes from our full spectrum format that combines education with the arts, spirituality and the inclusion of diverse communities. Our goal is to empower people and provide outlets to protect the Everglades and our natural resources.

Love The Everglades Movement's 2016 Summer Symposium is sponsored by the Miccosukee Tribe of Florida, Lemus Natural Medicine,VolunteerCleanup.org and concerned citizens.

Additional support provided by Global Indigenous Group, a student organization at Florida International University. Thanks also to FIU's Global Indigenous Forum
